2016 Brasileirão: Final 5 Rounds At a Glance (part I)

Folks, it’s about that time! The time when those who’ve had a tendency to screw up, must snap into shape. When those who need to meet their necessary “45-point quota”, the usual number established/spewed out by league mathematicians for safety from relegation, brush the dust off & meet their quota! So break out the calculators, because it’ll be a thrilling ride from now until December 4th!

Five rounds are left after 90% of Round 33 has been played, and let’s be frank – it’s only a matter of when, to see the headlines “PALMEIRAS, CHAMPIONS WITH … ROUNDS LEFT”.

But there’s so much more than just merely “defining a champion” during the course of a season’s last stretch than you can imagine. Especially when three teams avidly fight for two very closely disputed, direct Copa Libertadores group stage spots.

So, without any further ado, here are the final five rounds left for the fortunate top-four fighting for national & continental glory:

san-2016

Palmeiras: 86% title chances
Flamengo: 7% title chances
Santos FC: 5% title chances
Atlético-MG: 2% title chances

Next time, I’ll be going further down the table for a look at those eyeing the closing 4th to 6th places, also granting teams Copa Libertadores participation for 2017, Sudamericana territory (7th to 13th), and finally those unfortunate enough to be desperately clinging on for hope in remaining relevant in the Brazilian football elite by avoiding the relegation drop.

Happy calculating!
